This seasonal guide shows you how to enjoy the many gifts the garden offers as you awaken indoor spaces, filling them with color and life. Let the splendor of the outdoors fill every room of your home and every moment of your day.

Do you want to grow your house into a home in bloom? " Quote from the back cover of A Home in Bloom by Christie Purifoy

This is a very therapeutic book. Christie writes with some poetry, some inspiration and some straight up practicality.

She writes like I wish I could write, I am not a flowery writer but I have the thoughts that are in this book often. It is kind of hard to explain.

In this book review, I am going to give a couple quotes that demonstrate this. I think the best way to give you a taste of this book is to let the author speak for herself.

I could quote this book for days, it's that inspiring!

We live in an image centered world, but the images we find online tell us only a flat, two-dimensional story. Vignettes are kings in the designed spaces we study online, and we should be forgiven for imagining that the perfect vignette is the pinnacle of good design. But in real, three-dimensional life, a vignette alone doesn’t sing, because it is only ever a flat, observable thing. It is the thing we push aside in order to place our mug on the table or our feet on the ottoman. How is an empty vase placed with precision so very different from the same vase full of flowers? Why is one mute and the other musical? Because the flowers - even when we picked them up from the grocery store - link our interior space and our interior lives with the exterior world. They are not only signs of life. They are life.
A home in bloom is rarely pristine. A home in bloom is always growing and changing in ways I can’t quite predict. If we want to see our homes bloom, we don’t need to decorate. We simply need to live. Cut the lilies we grew even if something becomes pollen stained. Make the bouquet even thouogh we’ll be picking up browned petals in a few days.
Flowers are blooming; the season of singing has come.
